I feel at home behind the camera, and am very lucky to make a living doing such a wide variety of projects. This is a short sample of recent work done on projects ranging from corporate, documentary, broadcast, and narrative films. The footage was shot on several cameras including the Sony F3, Sony EX-1, Panasonic AF100, Canon 5D and 7D.

The music was composed for this reel by my friend and colleague, Jason Jordan.

My buddy Keith asked me to shoot a video of a recording session for his new album “Seethrough”. Keith is a charismatic, “interesting” fellow, and one of my favorite people to put a camera in front of so I couldn’t say no.

We shot the entire recording in about 12 hours on this mostly “studio live” album at Sonivox in Cambridge, MA.

For camera geeks, we shot this on the Panasonic AF100, Sony FS-100, and Canon 7D.

I was hired in December 2011 to create a highlights video for FanDuel’s second annual Fantasy Football Championship in Las Vegas. We had the challenge of creating an exciting wrap-up video from what basically amounted to a day of people watching football on tv. In the end I was happy with what we came up with and look forward to filming their next event this summer.

I recently completed a project for one of my clients, Kiva Systems, where we filmed at Crate + Barrel’s (one of their customers) distribution center outside San Francisco. The footage we shot over 3 days became 7 different videos that the Kiva sales and marketing teams can use for different purposes. This was one of the shorter videos highlighting some of Crate’s employees discussing the benefits of working with Kiva.

This video was produced for the annual “Funny Women, Serious Business” fundraising event for Rosie’s Place, a shelter for homeless women in Boston. This video is a tribute to Kip Tiernan, the founder of Rosie’s Place, who died earlier this year. She was an amazing woman and I was honored to have met her and to produce this piece. The video was a highlight at the event which raised $450,000 for Rosie’s Place.

I intercut footage from two “beauty” stock shoots for Image Souce. Shot on the Sony EX-1 and the Canon 5DMk2, I think this shows the interesting similarities and differences between these two cameras, in fairly similar setups.  You can read more about it on my blog here.

Here are some shot selections from my first shoot for Image Source, a stock footage company.  This was part of their cross-media collections, and I was working alongside photographer Jack Hollingsworth who was shooting “matched” stills to the video I was shooting.  You can read more about it here.

I put together a little selection of shots from my first project with the Canon 7D. This shoot was for a web series called “The Romeo Files” for the non-profit Our Spirit.  All footage was shot 1080/24p and the primary lens was the Canon 17-55 2.8 and a few were shot with the Canon 70-200 2.8. Last weekend I went out to watch a friend race in the Gran Prix of Gloucester cyclocross race. I decided to bring my EX-1 and film the event. Lots of bikes, colorful jerseys, some beers in the beer garden, all made for a great day of filming.

I often get asked when applying for shooting gigs if I can shoot and light interviews, so I decided to put together a demo reel for this purpose. I have filmed literally hundreds of interviews, and it is an important skill for most shooters.  All the samples here were shot with an EX-1 and about a quarter of them had the Letus Extreme adapter.  I use anywhere from 0 to 5 lights, and my kit includes Arri, Kino, Zylight, and Lowel lights.

I was hired as DP on this job, produced by Bill Parker of Hindsight Media. We made a 10-minute video for URWA (the Upper Raritan Watershed Association) and this is a 90 second “teaser” that we cut for them. URWA’s mission is to ensure the protection of the natural resources of the Upper Raritan Watershed through education, advocacy, land preservation and stewardship.  Check out more about this job on my blog.
